Talk Around the Track is The Male Hug’s official opening event for their main fundraiser, “Talktober”. 12pm Sunday, August 29, at Caulfield Racecourse, bring your friends and family and have a chat while you walk around the beautiful historic track.
Talk Around theTrack is an event designed to inspire men to talk about their mental health with those they trust. With your friends, or with your family, Talk Around the Track is a step in the right direction toward destroying the stigma around men's mental health. Talking about your mental health can be daunting but joining a thousand other people committed to doing the same thing can help alleviate that fear. The Male Hug is an initiative that seeks to raise the awareness of men’s mental health and promote open dialogue with those around us, and this event is just one of the stepping stones toward their goal. For an entry fee of $50, not only can you participate in this fantastic event, but you also get to help The Male Hug continue their work in the education of males about the advantages of talking. This money will also allow the organisation to be able to continue its buddy program for those who need it, free of charge. There will be food trucks and sponsor stalls on the day, and hundreds of people willing to have a chat. Entrants will receive a gift bag on the day which will have a The Male Hug cap, a $10 food voucher to spend at the food trucks, and a The Male Hug Stress ball. Numbers for Talk Around the Track are limited to the first 1,000 people to register at www.themalehug.com.au/tatt If you need someone to talk to or know someone who might need a chat, come along to Talk Around the Track and let off some steam. Don’t come alone. Bring your mates, bring your brothers, fathers and work colleagues. Come and talk, listen and relieve the stress that you’re dealing with. Talk Around the Track is for you and the people in your life who need to talk. Staying quiet hurts you, but speaking up helps you. Take the first step and come have a chat while you walk around the historic Caulfield Racecourse. |
The Male Hug founder, Tony Rabah calls for men to gather in a safe and friendly environment to talk openly without judgement on mental health issues. This safe and friendly environment seeks to create a timeout space for men to relax and open up about issues of mental health without fear of reprisal or judgement.
