Negative SpaceReleased: November 2022Art writing in the expanded field.
Where is the space between artwork as it exists in its physical form and a writer’s interpretation of it? How do we articulate this on the page?
Negative Space: Art writing in the expanded field presents dynamic, imaginative and thought- provoking writing within, through, parallel to, and as art. From gallery spaces to alternate universes, from the streets of Melbourne to Ancient Greece, this anthology showcases the various ways RMIT Creative Writing students engage with and respond to contemporary art. These twenty-one pieces, written in response to Melbourne-based exhibitions, explore the interpretive, negative space between art and audience. Negative Space is the seventh volume of the Bowen Street Press Review, a student literary journal from the RMIT Master of Writing and Publishing program, featuring works from RMIT’s 2022 creative writing undergraduate studio ‘Art Writing in the Expanded Field’. |
