The Male Hug is collaborating with Conscious Conversations to encourage conversations about our mental health and provide resources on how to reach out to those around you.
Conscious Conversations is a social enterprise dedicated to creating a ‘global movement, sparking five million genuine and meaningful conversations in the next five years.’ Born just before the world was shut down because of the global pandemic, Conscious Conversations had to reinvent its brand so that it could continue to provide support and connection for like-minded people who craved human connection more than ever before.
This mission perfectly aligns with that of The Male Hug, an initiative dedicated to raising ‘the awareness of men’s mental health and promoting the open dialogue of an often-sensitive issue.’ They seek to tackle the stigma associated with men’s mental health as it looks to take its place as a support service for men. They do this by providing support & encouraging men to talk in a safe and friendly environment that is free of judgement.
Although Conscious Conversations has a largely female audience compared to The Male Hug’s male audience, both organisations share the same goal. The two organisations strongly support the importance of men’s mental health and share the belief that women can help support the men in their lives, including husbands, brothers, partners, sons, uncles, grandfathers and friends, to open up and talk more.
Both The Male Hug and Conscious Conversations are run by passionate people who are hoping to create real impact and change on a global scale. Despite both being young organisations, they are dedicated to the same mission: to encourage real connection and conversation.
This collaboration comes just in time for The Male Hug’s largest mental health event of the year; Talktober. This event challenges and encourages men from all walks of life across the globe to take the #Talktober challenge to call up and check in on a mate every day of the month for the month of October. From celebrities and politicians to our friends and families, this event is designed to give men space to continue having much-needed conversations about mental health and check in with those we love.
Through this collaboration, these initiatives are aiming to highlight the many issues associated with closed communication such as loneliness, anxiety, and isolation, and how conscious conversations are now more important than ever.
Talking is the starting point for good mental health, and The Male Hug and Conscious Conversations are committed to creating the best environment for men and women to have what can be difficult conversations.
This collaboration is the first step towards creating the mental health movement that our friends, families and personal selves deserve.
